About the event
To provide a level playing field for small businesses, the U. S. government limits competition for certain small construction businesses. Those contracts are called “8a-Minority-Owned or small business set-asides,” and they help these businesses compete for and win federal contracts.
Cumulatively these contracts are worth hundreds of billions of dollars. Once awarded, many of these contracts are made up of multiple job or task orders lasting up to 5 years, assuring building contractors some measure of continuity without the hassle of always competitively bidding for new work.
These multiple award contracts are referred to by various names such as JOC, SABER, MATOC or some other type of IDIQ depending on the government source involved.
But here is the challenge. It’s not enough to know about upcoming government contracts or to register as an 8a or other small business – that’s a great start but what then? There is still a major missing piece of the puzzle that may keep you from the finish line.
